Home - Issues and Solutions - Outdoor Solutions - How to decorate a facade with consolidating and breathable mineral products
Decorate a facade with products that can color and at the same time consolidate the support. Decorate with mineral products that do not film and maintain a high-breathability? and mold resistance. Silicate products by their nature meet all these requirements. Do potassium silicate-based products adhere to the support through a chemical reaction that takes place in depth? between the mineral matrix dell’ plaster and the potassium silicate forming a crystal lattice that consolidates the substrate and from? cohesion to the applied product.
Main features of silicates: support consolidation, established? to light and UV rays, high permeability? steamed, resistance to mold.
Suitable supports: so that? l’ adhesion and the final aesthetic result are optimal e? it is necessary that the support is mineral, devoid of paints, possibly absorbent, cured, homogeneous in absorption.
Smooth finishes for smooth or civil plasters
1. Any molds should be treated with BIOCID algaecide and fungicide solution.
2. Completely remove any traces of old paint or old coatings.
3. Hydro-wash at high pressure, brush or scrape the entire façade, cleaning it from chalking or peeling paint, removing all traces of dirt or dust.
4. Consolidate with SILK PRIMER insulating fixative based on potassium silicate.
5. If plaster patches or traces are present, apply an intermediate coat of connection for SILK PF523 silicate-based finishes and wait 24 hours.
6. As an alternative, smooth the entire surface with LAMPOCIVIL R632 universal white overcoat with civil finish, let it cure for at least 10 days and apply a coat of SILK PRIMER insulating fixative based on potassium silicate.
7. Apply two coats of potassium silicate-based mineral paint using SILK FINISH. As an alternative application of MINERAL FINISH painting based on modified potassium silicate.
Rustic or float finishes for rustic or civil plasters
5. If there are patches of plaster or traces, apply an intermediate intermediate coat of SILK PF523 silicate-based finishes diluted with SILK PRIMER 20 # 37 maximum and wait 24 hours.
6. Alternatively, on inhomogeneous surfaces, smooth the entire surface with LAMPOCIVIL R632 white universal finishing mortar, let it cure for at least 10 days and apply a coat of SILK PRIMER potassium silicate based fixative.
7. Application with a trowel of a smooth-effect coating, with potassium silicates, inorganic pigments, silica sand and marble with constant granulometry, SILK COAT, in the 100/120/150 versions.
