PROBLEM: how to remediate, restore and protect partially degraded concrete

The main cause of concrete degradation is its carbonation. Carbon dioxide and other aggressive agents present in the atmosphere penetrate into the structure, causing a decrease in pH and reducing the natural protection of the reinforcement bars. Unprotected reinforcement bars oxidize. The formation of rust causes an increase in volume that leads to the cracking of the concrete cover and subsequent detachment.

    • SOLUTION:

    Translate the following sentence into English: "Prepare the support by completely removing and demolishing all deteriorated or detached concrete parts with the aid of mechanical or manual means until the reinforcement bars are completely uncovered (including the back side). Hydro-cleaning and vigorous cleaning of all surfaces with removal of dust and any inconsistent parts."

    For complete and definitive protection and decoration of the repaired concrete apply on all surfaces the carbonation protective, mold and algae resistant PROCTILCEMENTO C brush or roller applied in 2 or more coats. Compliant with the requirements of EN 1504-2. Prior application to the entire surface of the consolidant ISOMUR.

    Finish with application of two or three coats by brush or roller of smooth elastic micro-coating for facades ELASTOFINISH based on elastomeric resins, resistant to the growth of mold and algae. Compliant with the requirements of EN 1504-2. Prior application to the entire surface of the consolidant ISOMUR.

    NB: in case of preparatory treatment with uniformed SEVEN base do not use consolidants before painting.
